Our Austin Materials Recovery Facility

The Austin Material Recovery Facility (MRF) is one of Circular Services’ original flagship location. Then operating as Balcones Recycling, the facility began operations in 2012 after the City of Austin awarded the company with its residential recycling contract, effectively kickstarting our residential single stream program. The system has a processing capacity of 25 tons-per-hour and recovers between 11K and 15K tons of both commercial and residential recyclables each month.

The Glass Recycling Foundation awarded the Austin MRF with their gold certification for their MRF glass, making it the second Balcones MRF to achieve this accomplishment. The facility employs approximately 120 workers and services most of the City of Austin’s single-family households, plus 75 percent of Class A office buildings.
